The Air Jordan 22 (XX2 or XXII) - Basketball Leather / Game Shoes Edition (Black / Black) were released on February 17, 2007, and retailed for $180. They consist of a nice concept, using the braille, bumpy leather found on a basketball, all over the upper, giving it the whole basketball look and feel. The Air Jordan 22 (XXII) was inspired by the F-22 Raptor Strike Fighter. When you look at the F-22 Raptor you see the light camo spots and sharp aerodynamic cuts that can cut through the air like ice.The design of the upper has sharp lines which takes inspiration from the sharp maneuverability of the F-22 Raptor. They feature zig-zag stitching similar to that of the F-22 which [in the air]helps conceal the jet from enemy radar. On the shoes, this stitching helps provide a well produced shoe with lasting quality. Also, they feature chrome accents throughout, especially on the heel area. The shoe boasts the best ankle history of any Air Jordan to date. The variable speed lacing system coupled with titanium lace loops as well as a durable titanium lace lock allow a comfortable yet tight enough fit that they shoe stays on your foot. Also, the Air Jordan 22 (XXII) has air vents like the F-22 which provide an escape for heat. The heel on the Air Jordan XX2 is like no other. The diamond shape and extended heel counter protects even the most vulnerable athlete from a rolled heel. The cushioning system includes the previously seen IPS (Independent Podular Suspension) but with a new feature - it’s visible. This time the IPS is color coded so the athlete can choose his cushioning for each pod with either a responsive, double stacked Zoom Air pod, or a shock absorbing encapsulated air. In addition to the custom fit cushioning the IPS provides, they also have a Phylon midsole to provide extra cushioning without adding extra weight.The clear sole provides great traction on the court, making it possible to make sudden cuts and stops like no other. With a podular - like outsole, one can make moves on the court better than ever before.
