The Air Jordan 22 (XX2 or XXII) - Black / Varsity Red - Metallic Silver were released on April 7, 2007, and retailed for $175. They feature a black suede upper with silver and red accents, as well as a red inner lining. The inspiration behind these is the ultra fast F-22 Fighter Jet. The cushioning system includes the previously seen IPS (Independent Podular Suspension) but with a new feature - it’s visible, so the user is able to choose his cushioning for each pod with either a responsive, double stacked Zoom Air pod, or a shock absorbing encapsulated air. Other specifications include a Phylon midsole to provide extra cushioning without making the shoe bulky or heavier.
